Erb records fourth-place finish in Super Bowl of Racing opener at GIS
Tyler Erb was back in action on Thursday afternoon at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) kicked off the 2022 season with the Super Bowl of Racing. With 47 Late Models entered, Erb followed up the second-fastest lap in his time trial group with a convincing heat win over Ashton Winger. Earning the third-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Tyler led laps 8-13 but faded back to fourth with the checkered flag flew. He followed Devin Moran, Brandon Sheppard, and Kyle Larson across the line in the 40-lapper with Tim McCreadie coming in fifth. (Heath Lawson photo)
The following night, Tyler jumped up one spot in his heat race to finish second, trailing Brandon Overton. Losing eight positions in the 50-lap feature, Erb logged an 18th-place outing.
For the weekend finale on Saturday, Erb’s fourth-to-second run in his heat race positioned him 12th on the starting grid for the $15,000-to-win A-Main. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Tyler gained six spots in the 50-lapper to finish sixth.
