June 16, 2018 - Best Performance Motorsports Tackles Clash at the Mag
1The team resumed action with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) over the weekend with a trip south to Johnny Stokes' Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) for the annual Clash at The Mag.

Preliminary action for the $20,000-to-win event was contested on Friday night, and Richards rocketed to a convincing heat race win to lock into the pole position for Saturday's 100-lap finale.

As the race went green Josh assumed the second position behind Jimmy Owens. He would slip back to as far as fourth before charging to the lead on lap 27. He led the field until lap 84, when Tim McCreadie slipped past. Richards regained the lead one circuit later, and the pair swapped the top spot a few times before Richards retook control on lap 88, but not before the pair made slight contact.

It looked like Josh might be on his way to his third win of the year, but Hudson O'Neal would slip past on lap 94 to take the top spot. One lap later Bobby Pierce jumped to second, which pushed Richards back to third. That's where the West Virginia racer would finish with a rear tire that went flat as he crossed the finish line. Scott Bloomquist and Tim McCreadie rounded out the Top-5 finishers.

"When Timmy [McCreadie] got into me a little bit I think it cut my tire. I was hanging on and here comes Hudson on the bottom. I am happy for him to get the win. He's a good kid," said the driver of the Best Performance Motorsports, Colt Firearms, Rocket.

Josh is currently third in the latest LOLMDS points. For full results from the weekend as well as the latest series standings, please visit www.LucasDirt.com.

June 8, 2018 - Best Performance Motorsports Enters Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora
1Best Performance Motorsports enjoyed the rare opportunity to compete in their home state over the weekend as they took part in the Dirt Late Model Dream XXIV at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio).

Rain delayed the start of the event to Friday afternoon as 78 entries entered the opening round. Josh qualified 10th, which positioned him starting third in his heat race.

After finishing second in his heat race Richards started in the outside-front-row starting spot for the 25-lap, $5,000-to-win feature. Josh battled in the Top 5 throughout the preliminary feature before crossing the finish line in third behind Jonathan Davenport and Don O'Neal. Shannon Babb and Hudson O'Neal completed the Top-5 finishers.

On Friday night a $10,000 top prize was on the line, and Josh raced to a runner-up spot in his heat race, which locked him into the eighth-starting position for the feature. Unfortunately after experiencing fan and radiator issues late in the heat race, the team decided to make a single lap in the feature to ensure there was no damage to the engine.

After changing engines earlier in the day, Saturday night's finale found Josh starting his night by winning his heat race to lock into the sixth-starting spot for the 100-lap finale. During the race's first half he would advance to just outside the Top 10. Late in the race the handle began to go away on Richards No. 1 Best Performance Motorsports entry, and he made the decision to retire. He was credited with a 17th-place finish.
